From: ????????????????? Subject: Pipe Club Update Dear Steve, I thought I would bring fellow reader's of the digest up to date on the affairs of the Philadelphia Pipe Club. First of all, our name is now officially The Christopher Morley Pipe Club of Philadelphia. We chose the name to honor one of the great Pipe Smokers of the century and long time resident of our fair city. We have continued to meet every third Wednesday at Chris's Jazz Cave, 1421 Sansom St at 7:30. At our last meeting we met and spent some time with Bob Waughtel of Harrisburg PA and his lovely wife. We had a great time hearing Bob's storehouse of tobacco related stories and selecting from among his handmade beauties and estate pipe. Coming up on June 18 we are very pleased that Mark Tinsky will make the trek down from the Poconos to meet with the group. Craig Tarler of C&D continues to supply occasional samples. All in all we've had a pretty good first year. Our membership is closing in on 50. So far no more than 18-20 ever attend the same meeting. Some day, if everyone arrives together, we will have a space problem. Anyway, its been fun. A few of our members first heard about us through the digest or web page, so I thank you. Ira [ Sounds great, Ira! I only wish it had been running, or that I had heard of it, when I was living within striking distance of Philly (1974-86 or so). -S. ] ~\U ~\U ~\U ~\U ~\U ~\U ~\U ~\U ~\U ~\U ~\U ~\U ~\U ~\U ~\U ~\U ~\U
