Subject: The Pipe

Dear Steve-

P.S.  Regarding 'The Pipe' and 'The Smoke,' I have a lurid yellow
dublinesque one, which must be hardly packed at all to use properly.  It
has very wet smoking characteristics, which I rediscover every 5 years
or so.  The one advantage that it has is for sampling new tobacco blends
as it carries absolutely no flavor from previous smokes after cleaning. 
At the time I purchased it, I was a student at U of Penn, and I went
back to Charatan seconds and the like (student budget) from Holt's in
Philadelphia.  The yellow finish remains in perfect condition after all
this time (oh well).

[ Ah, If only Holt's had lasted too... I know they're still around,
but they're just not the same. -S. ]
