Subject: Hazardous woods

I'm a new member of PD and have just gotten through most of the past 
issues.  Facinating reading and it was amazing to watch PD grow over the 
years.  I saw a recent mention of cocobollo being used in a pipe and 
thought I would mention that I had a pipe made out of this wood and was 
using it without a stem.  After several smokes my lips started to chaff 
and burn.  I was slow to figure out why, but eventually realized it was 
because they were regularly coming into contact w/ this obviouosly 
irritating wood.  Based on the experience, I would suggest avoiding it 
for pipe smoking purpose... or at least us a rubber stem!
