Dear Fellow Lovers of the Pipe;

	I have been carving briar pipes from kits for about a year now, and
have the opportunity to get a kit using meerschaum rather than briar. What
are the differences between working with meerschaum and working with briar?
Are their special procedures, such as wetting the block to make it softer
and more easy to work with? Or will that put too much moisture in the block
as a whole? I have never carved a piece of rock before, and could use some
basic advice. Anyone know where to look for information?
