Subject: Mentors

Hi Steve
Lately i hear a lot about mentoring. It seems to me that pipe smokers have 
always done that.I feel that i owe a big debt to those pipe smokers who have 
influenced me as i have traveled along the road of life.
Many times my grandfather smoked his pipe as we sat on a riverbank fishing.
My uncle was a farmer up in the foothills of North Carolina.He made pipe 
tobacco for himself and anyone else who cared to smoke it.
A middle aged pipe smoker named bill helped me get setteled into a job that i 
retired from 30 years later.
A wise old pipesmoker of more than 50 years from Italy taught me how grow 
tomatoes and drink home made wine.
I understand Ted Willi when he talks of smoking in memory of his uncle.
My wife's uncle left me a pipe.It's in an ashtray on the mantle over my 
fireplace.
Sometimes on cold nights when i'm snug and warm in my chair watching the fire 
i light up a bowl and think of those who have gone on who ment so much to me.
It's really sad that so many people don't know what pipe smokers are about.
