From: "Phillip C. McKee, III" <?????????????????????????????> Subject: Peterson Lip (Re: "dental" tip on non-Peterson pipes?) I'm glad to see the Digest mailing again. I've been just reading it the past few issues but now I decided to send a post. In regards to the question from Matthew Lu on the Peterson Lip, I must say that I too prefer it to the standard bit. But, unfortunately for those of us who like it, it's a Peterson invention and the real version is only to be found on Peterson pipes. I have seen some knock-off designs, but none worked as well as the original. Usually the actual position of the hole is changed from the top to the end. In profile the copy still looks like Peterson bit but it smokes just like a regular bit. I say just stick with a real Peterson. It's a good quality pipe that tends to be very affordable. And if you absolutely must be able to say that your pipe cost an arm & a leg, then buy one of the Peterson special pipes such as the Year Pipe or a Sherlock Holmes 7 day set. --Phil ~\U ~\U ~\U ~\U ~\U ~\U ~\U ~\U ~\U ~\U ~\U ~\U ~\U ~\U ~\U ~\U ~\U Date: Tue, 16 Dec 2003 16:57:29 +0100
